Video Compress: Reduce Video File Size — Tutorial

Video Compress tool re-encodes video via server-side FFmpeg, reducing bitrate, frame rate, or resolution to shrink file size. Suitable for short video sharing, material compression, and pre-upload web processing.

Video Compress Tool Interface

Features

  • Server-side transcoding: Processed by FFmpeg after upload — better quality retention than browser wasm solutions.
  • Parameter control: Adjustable bitrate, frame rate, width, and height (not exceeding original).
  • Proportional scaling: Auto-calculates the other dimension when modifying width or height.
  • Stage preview fits the video’s real aspect ratio (contain, portrait/landscape); click the picture to play/pause (no native browser controls); encoding still uses your parameters.
  • Manual render: changing any parameter shows a Re-render button in the preview; compress and update preview on click. Compress & Download exports after render completes.

Use Cases

  • WeChat, email, or backend system video size limits — compress before uploading.
  • Product demo videos too large — quickly generate lightweight versions.
  • Convert high-resolution footage to web-preview-ready size.

How to Use

Open the Video Compress tool. Upload mp4, webm, mov, wmv, mkv, or avi video — max 50MB, longest 15 minutes. Adjust bitrate, frame rate, or resolution as needed. Click Re-render in the preview area and wait for the server to generate a preview with current parameters. When satisfied, click Compress & Download to export mp4; uploaded files are auto-deleted after ~10 minutes.

Notes

  • Longer videos and higher resolution mean longer processing times.
  • Files exceeding 50MB or 15 minutes will be rejected.
  • Do not upload confidential or unauthorized videos.
