Subtitle Extraction: Soft Subtitles to Timed TXT — Tutorial

Extract embedded soft subtitles to timeline TXT for scripts and caption drafts. Videos without a subtitle track cannot be processed; there is no speech recognition.

Features

• FFmpeg reads soft subtitle streams → TXT with H:M:S lines.
• Single file: one upload at a time; home overlay shows progress.
• Fullscreen desk after success: copy or save .txt with a success toast.
• On failure, only a toast is shown; you stay on upload and can try again.
• Server tasks auto-expire after about 10 minutes.

Use Cases

• Pull plain text from finished cuts that already have soft subs.
• Edit embedded caption tracks offline.

How to Use

1. Open Subtitle Extraction.
2. Upload one mp4 / webm / mov / wmv / mkv / avi with soft subs (≤50MB, ≤15 minutes).
3. Wait on the home page until extraction finishes.
4. Read subtitles fullscreen; use Copy or Save for the TXT file.
5. Reset clears the task and returns to upload.

Notes

• Soft subs only — burned-in captions and audio-only files are not supported.
• Missing subtitle tracks fail with a toast explaining why.
• Do not upload confidential or unauthorized media.
